This is Clinician’s Roundtable on ReachMD. On this episode, we’ll hear from Dr. Jean Elwing, who’s a Professor of Medicine and the Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. She’ll be sharing a preview of presentations on pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease at the 2026 CHEST Annual Meeting. Here’s Dr. Elwing now.
Dr. Elwing:
I'm really looking forward to CHEST 2026. We have a lot of amazing information about pulmonary vascular disease coming, but one thing I'mreally excited about is a session I'm involved in on pulmonary hypertension in ILD.I'm going to be speaking about interstitial lung disease, and the title of my presentation is "Detection and Diagnosis of PH in ILD: A Needle in a Haystack or Hidden in Plain Sight?"
And I think the title really gets at the problem. Are we really searching for something, or is this right in front of us? We're watching ILD patients, and we're seeing them change over time, and maybe if we just use the information we have on a daily basis seeing our ILD patients, we'll be able to recognize this disease more quickly and more accurately. So in my idea, in my impression, and what I'm hoping to present is that it is hidden in plain sight.
There's several other things that I think will be very important for PH-ILD and our understanding of this condition. There are several presentations I'mvery excited about for CHEST 2026. One is about looking at lung morphology and outcomes with this condition. Another is looking at the use of inhaled treprostinil in patients with less severe pulmonary hemodynamics and how treatment affects those individuals. So those are really exciting.
We have several other products in the pipeline that we're studying in this condition. I don't think this is the end of the story for PH-ILD. This is just the beginning.Soa very exciting disease to be part of and to watch us be able to find new ways to manage and help patients affected by this condition.
